What's it all about?
The New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) is a digital enabler that is changing the way New Zealanders do business. A globally unique identifier, it makes doing business faster and easier because it links to core business information that businesses are most often asked for.
The NZBN will transform business becoming the key to future innovations, such as e-Invoicing. This will remove the need for manual handling of PDF, scanned and email invoices using an international standard used by 32 nations.

Jo Hogan has been transforming and futureproofing businesses and government for over 20 years across industries such as manufacturing, waste management, health and across major small business
government initiatives.
Her roles have ranged from implementing finance and system transformations to simplifying complex business structures and processes benefiting not only the business, but key stakeholders, customers and the communities they serve.
Jo believes that digital should be an integral part of every business, government agency and citizens lives.
Jo’s current role as Director, New Zealand Business Number (NZBN), is focussed on just that. Her role in establishing this key government initiative for all Kiwi businesses is transforming how we do business in New Zealand. The NZBN sets the New Zealand economy up for the future of business and
is the enabler of exciting technology like e-Invoicing and seamless digital services delivered by government.
Getting people to engage and understand tech projects while they are being rolled out is often a challenge, but bringing people along with the journey is a key part of Beth’s role. During Beth’s career she has led and been involved in a diverse range of projects across the public and private sector that have changed the direction and focus of organisations and industries.
Beth has worked with a variety of stakeholders from large government agencies and sizable corporates through to small businesses and a charitable trust. She has a wealth of experience in conceptualising future states, selling the strategic intent and creating the pathway to implementation. This has been especially highlighted in her work in the NZBN team through introducing key stakeholders to the NZBN and encouraging its implementation across Kiwi businesses.
A key part of Beth’s role is to ensure stakeholders realise the benefits of the NZBN and take them on the journey for how it will transform business in New Zealand through enabling technologies like e- Invoicing, and others that will be created in future.
Beth has managed several projects from initial inception to successful completion and enjoys maximizing synergies across workstreams to leverage opportunities.
