The Emerging Tech in Health Symposium series is now in its 3rd year and the 2-day 2019 event in Christchurch is focusing on the use of data analytics and emerging technologies in the healthcare system to enable improved decision-making and delivery of health services. The symposium caters for a cross-section of clinicians, healthcare providers, policy-makers, funders and health technology professionals. The symposium is providing novice and advanced tracks within its programme to ensure relevancy to a wide audience by reflecting the varying levels of digital health experience across the sector. Keynote and other speakers will be drawn from well-known experts and practitioners in their fields with a focus on providing practical presentations directly related to clinical outcomes.

Shayne Hunter joined the Ministry of Health in March 2019 as the Deputy Director-General, Data and Digital.
With more than 20 years in the health sector, Karen brings together the worlds of clinical practice and IT systems and processes through her work as a clinical informatician at healthAlliance.
Shayne is currently the Chief Digital Officer at Auckland District Health Board, reporting into the Chief Executive. Shayne is responsible for providing strategic IT leadership and direction, leading high performance team, driving service delivery excellence and customer value.
