Meet the team | Perrin Reilly

Meet Perrin, director at Springtimesoft Consulting, our technology delivery partner for Techweek'18. AKA the good-at-everything guy behind Techweek's shiny website.

Explain your role at Techweek in one sentence

Whoa, working with the rest of the team and wider ecosystem to understand requirements and use those to design and build the Techweek platform (with the help of my team).

Tell us something we’d be surprised to know about you

I left school when I was 15 to become an electrician. School and I just didn't go well together. I remember going to the interview for my electrician apprenticeship the same day school started after the holidays, I had my school bag in the car just in case things didn't go well!

What were you doing before Techweek?

Working with my awesome team at Springtimesoft Consulting. I actually fell into this line of work. When I was an electrician I got into power boating with my boss, and I met some guys in advertising through that. They ended up asking me to join their company in a sales position. Somehow I began taking the lead on digital projects and really enjoying it. When I left I started a company that has since become (in a very round about way) Springtimesoft.

And what’s your next dream job when you finish up here?

I’m quite interested in self-sufficient and sustainable food production and living systems - I don't know if it will ever turn into a job but it's certainly an area I’d like to explore.

Name one thing about Techweek'18 that you’re particularly excited about

Being part of something that inspires and motivates others to get involved with technology/the technology sector.

What’s your favourite sci-fi or near future novel/film/tv series and why?

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched or read something sci-fi/near future. I really want to check out Black Mirror, but the last TV show I watched was actually Luther. That was great. To be honest, I spend most of my leisure time obsessively researching and reading up on whatever my next project is going to be - at the moment that's home renovation.
