The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial is creating exciting opportunities that have not before been possible. AI, machine learning and deep learning are enabling both the large scale utilisation of geospatial data to model the world as well as the generation of better geospatial data and decision support systems. Computer Vision – the ability for computers to see - is an area that has flourished using deep learning. In this talk I will discuss several computer vision examples applied to specific real world problems and explore what’s next in this fast developing field.
NZTA maintains a road traffic crash database called CAS. The system has been recently upgraded with improved geospatial elements. This live demonstration will provide a high level insight into the system’s functionality in aiding the transport sector to improve road safety across New Zealand.
Elaine will speak about the challenges with diversity in the spatial industry.
