Legal Services and Technology Innovation Roundtable

Learn about the latest trends in legal innovation and connect with like-minded innovation champions from leading law firms

What's it all about?

What are the barriers to profitable innovation in your firm? Could chatbots make it easier for your firm to find new clients and serve existing clients? What could blockchain technology achieve for your firm? Ask a panel of Christchurch law industry experts your questions, be part of a valuable conversation and earn CPD hours.

This event will be in two parts: Several short presentations, then a panel/AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on latest trends in legal technology (including legal AI and blockchain) and new ways of delivering legal services.

The blockchain presentation will provide a high-level description of blockchain, draw comparisons between smart contracts and 'legal contracts', and address the question "does a Smart Contract meet the definition of 'Contract' enforcible under NZ law?"

The legal chatbots presentation will provide a high-level description of chatbots and virtual assistants, cover the important use cases for legal chatbots (and how they are different from robo-lawyers), and explore the role of legal chatbots in a law firm's client engagement strategy.
