Government and Businesses working smarter together

A great opportunity for business owners to learn how they can save time and effort when accessing government services now and in the future.

What's it all about?

All businesses need to interact with government in a number of ways and it can be complicated and time consuming. Better for Business is a collaboration of 10 government agencies focussed on making significant improvements to the business experience with Government.

Come hear about some of the initiatives leveraging technology to transform the way government services are being designed for businesses and how they will be in the future:

- New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) and electronic invoicing (e-Invoicing)
The NZBN is a unique identifier that links to the information businesses are most often asked to share, so you can stop repeating the same details and spend more time growing your business. The NZBN enables transformational initiatives such as e-Invoicing.

- Business Connect is a cross-agency digital services platform that will allow businesses to interact with multiple government agencies from one place.

- Better rules – better outcomes is an initiative that re-examines the way we develop regulation to ensure it’s more easily implemented as part of government’s digital services – particularly for businesses. This is sometimes referred to as 'legislation as code'.

This is your chance to hear and talk with government experts who are committed to improving your business experience with public services. Don't miss out!

You can drop into this event at any time.

Beth Williams

Manager NZBN, MBIE

Getting people to engage and understand tech projects while they are being rolled out is often a challenge, but bringing people along with the journey is a key part of Beth’s role.

During Beth’s career she has led and been involved in a diverse range of projects across the public and private sector that have changed the direction and focus of organisations and industries. Beth has worked with a variety of stakeholders from large government agencies and sizable corporates through to small businesses and a charitable trust. She has a wealth of experience in conceptualising future states, selling the strategic intent and creating the pathway to implementation.

This has been especially highlighted in her work in the NZBN team through introducing key stakeholders to the NZBN and encouraging its implementation across Kiwi businesses. A key part of Beth’s role is to ensure stakeholders realise the benefits of the NZBN and take them on the journey for how it will transform business in New Zealand through enabling technologies like e-Invoicing, and others that will be created in future.

Beth has managed several projects from initial inception to successful completion and enjoys maximizing synergies across workstreams to leverage opportunities.

Pim Willemstein

Strategic Advisor, Better for Business, Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

Pim’s professional career spans private, government and R&D sectors and he combines a strong technical foundation with in-depth understanding of organisational and business objectives.
