Diversity and Inclusion in Tech - How can we do better?

How can modern organisations build and leverage a diverse and inclusive culture for success?

What's it all about?

It is absolutely unarguable that we have a diversity problem in Technology. The industry is strongly dominated, particularly at senior management level, by people who "look the same". However, hiring practices that mention quotas or hiring for diversity get a strong pushback - why should we hire incompetent people simply for the sake of diversity?

This panel discussion seeks to understand whether Diversity and Equality in Tech is truly a competency problem? What other elements of the story might contribute to the lack of diversity in hiring? And what can each of us do, or understand about ourselves or the contexts we live in, and recognise whether or not we are part of the problem. Just as importantly, what can we do to be part of the solution? And what does equality truly look like.

Our panel will explore all these issues keeping in mind that innovation requires 'new thinking', and often 'new thinking' comes from people who see the same old problem from a new angle, lens, color or perspective.

Our panel includes recruitment and HR leaders who are often at the forefront of this problem, and have real insights into the challenges and solutions so that all participants can go away with strategies and information to support diversity and inclusion in their own organisations.
