Built on Microsoft's 'Gaming For Everyone' initiative, this event aims to inspire young girls to pursue gaming as both a valuable development activity as well as a viable career path. Through collaborative gaming, girls will learn the skills necessary to work together to solve problems, feel confident and comfortable playing games, be welcomed into a space that is traditionally male dominant and be empowered to pursue careers in gaming and technology.
Today, there is still a stigma around gaming as influencing bad habits and that girls aren't as capable in the gaming industry as men. This event aims to help girls (and their parents) learn more about the positive impact gaming can have, the value and skills that playing video games can bring, as well as the importance of safe gaming/online practices.
The event also allows attendees to learn about how to pursue career paths in games and technology.
