Come watch teams compete for a $10k prize pool, we have some of NZ's best competing for thousands in prizes. Riot Games Social Play and Community Games Manager will be flying in from their Sydney HQ to be part of this unique event. Andy “Cupcake” van der Vyver (Dire Wolves, Chiefs Esports Club) is flying from Auckland.
Techweek 2019
Digital Natives Academy (DNA), a Rotorua based non-profit has teamed up with Riot Games, one of the largest gaming companies in the world to launch an innovative well-being and esports education programme.
To celebrate this partnership, and help put some shizzle into Techweek 2019, Digital Natives Academy and Riot Games will co-deliver 3 innovative workshops. Alongside these workshops, we are running a competitive esports tournament with a $10k prize pool.

To create some “shizzle” and display in real time how high performance mindsets can positively impact on competitive gameplay and overall wellbeing.To help families, educators, hapu, iwi and marae see how they can positively influence and contribute to their children’s wellbeing in digital spaces.To use gaming as a gateway to careers in the digital tech industry. It’s a fact that we simply don’t have enough coders, developers, creators and we need more. This is about illuminating pathways into this sector, as a result we are inviting educational providers to join us.

Email OrganiserIvan will be flying in from Sydney to share his insights as a former teacher and lead on the new Learn with League initiative, which has been designed to help young people, parents, and teachers explore how League of Legends can provide a structure to collaboratively learn and prepare for life.
Andy is a professional esports player and coach and has played at the highest levels in the Oceania region. Andy also trained to be a professional tennis player in the US on a Tennis scholarship. He came back to NZ to play esports professionally and now coaches one of the top teams in Australia.
