Amazon Web Services runs a global racing league of autonomous, machine learning powered, model racing cars - AWS Deep Racer!
The goal of the league is to encourage participants to learn how to train a machine learning model, then refine their skills and the model while competing in a global league; all this while, most importantly, having fun! We also have two workshops for attendees where they can get a deep dive intro on Reinforcement Learning in order to better train their own models.
Whether you are new to machine learning or ready to build on your existing skills, we can help you get ready to race. You can get started by taking the e-learning class: AWS DeepRacer: Driven by Reinforcement Learning, and in around 90 mins you'll be familiar the basics of reinforcement learning (a branch of machine learning that's ideal for training autonomous vehicles) and AWS DeepRacer - and ready to hit the tracks!
You can drop into this event at any time.
Monday 20 May
9:30am - 4:30pm
Our DeepRacer race marshal for the day will be Scott Gilbert, our AWS NZ Technical Trainer. Scott will share knowledge on how to train the machine learning models, and have a few tips on how to get your car around the track, shaving critical seconds off cornering times!
The DeepRacer League will be running all day on the 20th, however to get the extra deep dive on how to train a machine learning model, join Scott for this workshop where he'll run through the building and training of the models in detail!
Attendees of the workshops will hear Scott explain reinforcement learning. We will provide access to an AWS account where models can be trained up, and evaluated on a virtual circuit. They can be retrained if needed, and then the attendee can download the machine learning model and place it on the car and test it.
Please select one of the two workshops.

We will have a few different options for our attendees, in this all-day event. We welcome drop-ins to see what it is all about, and you can utilizs a sample pre-built machine learning model to control the car, with speed control via a tablet as it makes its way around our DeepRacer track.
We will have a pit boss controlling the loading of models onto the cars, and a track boss responsible for helping get the cars around the track.
Attendees can also choose to participate in one of two workshop for where will explain reinforcement learning.
