Emergency Q is a software platform which reduces overcrowding in hospital emergency departments. The software gained national recognition when it won the 2018 NZ Hi-Tech awards (Public Good category) and the B:Hive race for space competition. It is currently in use at Middlemore and North Shore Hospitals and being rolled out to other DHBs in 2019. Discussions are also underway in overseas markets where non-acute patient utilisation of EDs is a significant challenge.
