We will have staff members located beside several displays demonstrating the physics of acoustics and some of the research which our staff members undertake in the field of acoustics. We will also run tours from the display location to the Acoustics laboratories at 12 pm and 2 pm. In these tours we will present our "Acoustics Experience" within our unique facilities. Attendees will be able to experience the anechoic chamber - a room without echos which we believe to be the "quietest place in New Zealand" - and one of our reverberation rooms, where the highly reflective interior surfaces of the room cause echos which last for several seconds. The demonstration will discuss the physiological and physical effects of these environments and the practical uses of these facilities.
You can drop into this event at any time.
